COME TO THE EDGES...IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO FLY

Last week while I was driving in Dayton,OH, I saw an advertisement for skydiving and parachute ride. I said to my family that is the next thing I wanted to do. Risk taking is the foundation for success.  If we had no risk takers we might still be cooking over an open fire, storing food in the earth, and using horses as our primary means of transportation. We also wouldn't have cell phones, airplane, and computers. Creativity and risk taking helped us to be where we are today.
Once I had a small bird nest right in front of my home back home in India. I watched the bird every day right after the school. I have seen the mother bird feeding the four little birds. They grow fast from that little egg to a flying bird within my eye watch. It was hard for me but for an Ornithologist it might be easy to interpret the sound. But in a charm sunny day I saw the mother bird trying to push the little birds out of the nest. I am sure it was an invitation to come to the edge. The little bird might have said mom we are afraid. Mother bird invited again and said, come to the edge… come to the edge. When with little courage the little birds came to the edge…the mother bird pushed them… and they flew.
While my child was not eating her food my wife took her out and showed her the birds. Mostly the little sparrows that come to our little garden. Look at them they don’t have the medical care, they don’t have educational institutions, they don’t have a job description and they are not supported by the technologies of today’s world. Yet Jesus encouraged the disciples to look at the sparrows. Jesus teaching them about God’s care for the humanity. We can do an ecological reading of this given text. Matthew 6: 25 to 27 reads: "For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?"And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his/her life? If God cares for the lowly sparrows of the earth which were not worth more than a penny in ancient Jewish society, will not the Living God also care for you and me?

Can you do one thing every day or in every week that scares you? There is a distance between where the magic happen and where you are now. The journey to the magic is a path way to take risk. To achieve anything in life we need to abandon our comfort zone, logical reasons and travel in a new directions. The habit of a winning leader is to take risk and then if they win they win and if they lose they gain an experience.

In my opinion, the story, the example and the scripture are not woven together. The scripture as you explained means do not be concerned about tomorrow. Don't worry or be anxious about the future, God will take care of you. I doubt if that is about risk taking, which means do anything you want , any wordly activities and then expect God to protect you.

Matthew 4:7 NLT
“The Scriptures also say, ‘You must not test the lord your God.’”
How do you explain this scripture then?

Do what is right and good for humanity, what brings honor and glory to God. Take risk to save a person and lead him to follow God.
When you do things for your pleasure and for your fame, don't expect God to be there..... and don't mislead people to take risk and then contempt God.
