Trade it until I come: Infusing Kingdom Culture

God’s plan is to establish His Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven. God wants the knowledge of God to cover the earth as the water covers the sea. Just like us, the first-century disciples asked this question when would the kingdom appear? Christ, when will you come with your glory? Christ answered this question with a parable.  There was a man who went away to a distant kingdom and left others in charge and instructed them to do business or trade it until I come. They were not to focus on when he was returning from his journey, but rather on doing business until he came. God wants us to have everything created and possibly you can until he comes. Create an economy that is pure and principled. Ultimately God was not happy with the person who essentially buried his talent to preserve it. Don’t merely preserve your faith, and your personality, and cling to it – be taking action to bear fruit! Be the servant that was found in action, not waiting. While He is gone you are expected to exercise your gifts, talents and maximize them. We are to be like a city set on a hill, an example to the world. At the heart of every city is the group of businesses that it functions by, and so God’s entrepreneurs are to be found establishing His Kingdom on earth. If you are in the kingdom business you are a special breed of people. We are driven to succeed and make money, expand the kingdom, and branch out in our communities with services and products.

In the book of Genesis, we see many examples of healthy business in the early days of God’s economy. (Gen. 13:12, 26:12-14, 39:2-3). Creativity is connected to God's economy. There is no discrimination in the kingdom business. Gal. 3:28; there is neither Jew nor Greek, male nor female, but all are one in Christ. Practicing business by the principles of God’s kingdom economy will begin to evoke a blessing on your business and personal and generational life. It is time for a revolution in business that will show to the world His ways, as we are admonished in Matthew 5:16; “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”

As stated by Kingdom business connection: “If you want to have a Kingdom business, you have to be walking with the King.” We feel that a Kingdom business will not necessarily have an outward appearance that is different from any other business. However, if it is truly under His Lordship, it will be run by God’s principles and the owner(s) should be connected in some way to a personal church shepherding of their own lives. Kingdom business operates with God’s principles.
Christ spent much of his time ministering in the marketplace. The majority of the apostles were called from their business background. Jesus himself grow up within a family business. The word Carpenter the Greek word ‘tekton’ actually means a craftsman, one who constructs, builder, or stone worker. Jesus might have told around 50 parables out of which 34 are connected with business, finance, and workplace content. Paul had business partners like Priscilla and Aquila and Lydia. Lydia was a cloth dealer who provided the home for the Philippian church.
Jesus said at twelve years old “I must be about My Father’s business” (Matthew 3:12). Leadership at its core is an influence. God is in the business of people, creating both “prophets and profits” at the same time, as He uses the marketplace and farmers' market for many of His purposes. Believe it or not, you are a brand. You are responsible for your brand equity. How you are perceived is directly correlated to how you present yourself. Perception is in the eye of the perceiver. Innovation is all about taking something common or joining two things together and improving it in a way that makes it more valuable and meaningful for the market.  The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write but those who cannot learn, unlearn and relearn.
