Rap music particularly in its origins and ongoing global evolution, serves as a cultural megaphone for those whose voices are often ignored or silenced. The genre’s authenticity and rawness make it a contemporary platform for expressing the pain, hope, and demands of the oppressed—essentially giving a voice to the voiceless, much like Jesus did in his time.

It is very much connected as a modern-day lament calls for action, echoing the prophetic tradition found in the Biblical text (8th Century Prophets). 

History has never witnessed a greater champion for the marginalized, the poor, and the oppressed than Jesus. His teachings and actions—such as the Sermon on the Mount and his outreach to society’s outcasts—embody a “preferential option for the poor,” emphasizing compassion, justice, and advocacy for those without power or status. Where ever the gospel has deeply penetrated as a mission it transferred the communities, and uplifted the poor and downtrodden, making the mission as a continous call to be a voice for the voiceless. 

While I have no idea about Vedan’s personal life or no one to judge the moral standard related to the recent arrest for drug possession and the alleged possession of protected wildlife artifacts sparked debates about the intersection of art, activism, and personal conduct. The hipe in social media and lyrics of his songs are seen as a form of contemporary prophecy, challenging listeners to confront uncomfortable truths and inspiring a collective yearning for justice. His work resonates with the biblical call to "speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves" (Proverbs 31:8), positioning him as a cultural prophet in the modern age. Despite these challenges, Vedan's music continues to inspire and provoke thought, reminding us of the enduring power of art to challenge injustice and envision a more equitable world. His work invites listeners to engage deeply with societal issues, embodying the transformative potential of prophetic artistry in today's cultural landscape.
